Upcoming Event: Renowned JS guru KYLE SIMPSON Talk: The 3 Foundations of JavaScript with Dev Bootcamp | Nov 30th

Dev Bootcamp, Kyle Simpson, and ChickTech have partnered to bring you a beginner level talk on JavaScript fundamentals! Kyle is a well-known author, teacher, speaker, and evangelist. His works include the You Don’t Know JS book series and Frontend Masters courses. Kyle has travelled the world giving lectures and guest speaking on technical topics, everything JS, as well as open source software.

Upcoming Global Partner Event: Intro to Coding Classes with SheCodesNow

SheCodesNow is a new initiative started by our global partner, CDK Global. They will be offering a series of free coding workshops for women covering . These workshops are meant to promote a supportive and safe learning atmosphere for anyone who would like to join.

Past Event: Yes We Can: Compensation Negotiation Strategies from Women in Tech with Uber | Nov 16th

We welcome you to join us at Uber’s Seattle Engineering office, in partnership with ChickTech, as we host a panel to discuss offer negotiation for women in the tech industry. As we know, the gender pay gap is a big problem in the US tech industry, especially in computer programming which has the highest gender pay disparity by occupation. Women coders make ~28% less money than their male counterparts – even when adjusted for location, experience, etc. Join us as we work together to shrink the gender pay gap.

Past Event: CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap – Screening with Marchex | Nov 9th

What would society gain from having more women and people of color in code?
On November 9th, Marchex, in association with ChickTech, will host a screening of the award-winning documentary, “CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap.” This is an amazing documentary that unpacks a real national crisis: the lack of women and minority software engineers, the reasons why, and what’s happening that aims to close the gender gap and digital divide. This film highlights breakthrough efforts that are producing more diverse programmers and shows how a more inclusive environment can lead to innovation.

There will be a panel discussion right after the film, panelists include:

Margaret Cobb – Director of OEM Technical Sales, Microsoft

We have partnered up with Modev for their upcoming Code Writers Workshop in Seattle on October 14th. It’s a 1-day event for developers in pursuit of a great life in software. The workshop will go beyond code to the hard bits of building a strong personal brand and a rewarding career journey. Speakers are carefully selected to provide a day of insights, inspiration and actionable ideas.

The first few ChickTech members that sign up using the “chicktechcommunity” at checkout will get a free ticket! Make sure to select “Early Registration” for ticket type. After all the free tickets have been used, the code will become a 20% off voucher for any ticket type.
